FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

AIRBRUSH MAKEUP

What is Airbrush Makeup?

  • Flawless

  • Long-Lasting

  • Light Weight

  • Hypoallergenic

  • Non-comedogenic (won't clog pores)

  • Transfer, water,  sweat, tear-resistant

Unlike traditional makeup, airbrushing sprays a fine mist, so the makeup "sits evenly" on your skin with a seamlessly blended and absolutely luminous complexion.   Airbrush makeup provides flawless sheer to full coverage only where you need it to diffuse discolorations, fine lines, wrinkles, and pores by minimizing skin imperfections leaving a beautifully natural finish.  Traditional powder or liquid-based makeup can settle and appear in pores and wrinkles to become more visible.  Airbrush makeup creates an even, sheer, natural appearance to the skin while providing a lightweight feel.

The natural properties of silicone in airbrush makeup offer a soft-focus effect radiating a healthy and youthful glow on any skin type. As a traditional powder or liquid foundation fade away throughout the day; silicone-based airbrush makeup wears longer without fading upwards of 12-24 hours with a transfer, water, sweat and tear resistance.   Being an oil-free, non-comedogenic (will not clog pores) and hypoallergenic formula means airbrush makeup is great for all skin types.

Do you have airbrush foundation shades to match all different skin shades?

Yes, Airbrush foundation is available for all shades from the lightest to the darkest tones.

GENERAL MAKEUP CONCERNS

Do you offer other types of makeup or is it strictly airbrush?

Airbrush makeup is used for the foundation, base, contour, highlight, blush, and sometimes for the eyes dependent upon the look to be achieved.  Traditional makeup is typically used for eye makeup.  Sometimes traditional makeup may be used for the contour, highlight, and blush dependent upon any chance of crying or sweating, in which case it would not be used.  Foundation is available in airbrush only.  Most of the makeup used (excluding traditional eye shadows) is water-resistant or waterproof in the case that crying, sweating, or moisture may be an issue.

Do you use traditional foundation as well (different than that of the airbrush application)?

Airbrush makeup is the foundation offered.

What makeup brands do you use?

Temptu airbrush makeup along with many other random brand names used for traditional makeup.

How long will the makeup last and are touch-ups needed?

The staying time of makeup will be pretty much all day and night, you should not have to worry about your makeup wearing off or bleeding.  The only concern will be the reapplication of lip color.  Most always a lip stain is applied, though the staying time of lip color/stain is undetermined due to many factors such as kissing, drinking, eating, licking of lips, oils in your skin, etc.

Is the traditional makeup waterproof and will it stay put as long as the airbrush makeup?

All my makeup is waterproof except the powders such as eyes shadow.  However, because it is used mainly on your lids you will not have to worry about tears ruining it.  Also being atop the airbrush makeup it will last longer and stay fresher throughout the day and night.  Your makeup will be the least of your worries all day!!!

How long will the lip color last?

Typically a lip stain is applied, though the staying time of lip color/stain is undetermined due to many factors such as kissing, drinking, eating, licking of lips, oils in your skin, etc.   Just because a product states long-wear or so many hours it definitely will not stay put that long due to the many factors listed above.  These products, however, may stay put longer than the products not meant for long wear.

Do you contour, highlight and color in brows?

Yes, contour, highlight, and brows will always be applied unless otherwise directed by the client not to.

Should I cleanse and moisturize my face before my makeup application?

Yes, you should complete your daily skin routine as normal.  Always moisturize!!!  Exfoliating is always a great idea in order to rid your skin of dead skin cells for the best radiant appearance.  Dead skin cells may give a dull appearance to any skin type with or without makeup. Best to exfoliate 1-2 days a week.

I have a particular makeup product I love.   May it be used as well?

Absolutely! If you have a makeup product that is tried and true to you then bring it along.  You or I may apply it as you see fit.

I have oily skin, will the airbrush makeup stay put?

Yes.  With the use of a primer meant for oily skin the makeup should stay put.

May I bring pictures of some ideas I have?

Of course! Pictures are a great way to show your ideas of what you would like.  Keep in mind the makeup may look different on you due to different facial features and skin tones than that of the models used in the photos.

Should I have makeup done before or after my hair is done? Will hairspray affect my makeup?

Makeup may be done either before or after your hair is done.  Makeup should be done according to the time that works best with your schedule, within your scheduled time.  The application of makeup will not interfere with your hairstyle nor will hairspray interfere with the makeup application.

How do I remove the airbrush and waterproof makeup?

All the makeup may be removed with your everyday facial cleanser and eye makeup remover.  Because most of the makeup used is waterproof/resistant using just water with a washcloth will make for a slight struggle with getting the eye makeup off.

Should I place my contacts in before or after my makeup application?

Contact lenses can be placed before or after makeup application, though it is suggested to place them in after the makeup application.  Sometimes during the makeup application, the contacts can get colored on by eyeliner, shadow dust may get on or under the contact, as well as your eyes may possibly get dried out.

Do you supply touch-up makeup?

Sorry, I do not supply touch-up makeup.  With the waterproof/resistant makeup atop the airbrush makeup, a very little touch -up if any will be needed. Though it is always suggested to have your own backup makeup for those "just in case" moments.  Lipstick/gloss is always suggested to have as this will need to be reapplied throughout the day/night.  Reapplication of lipstick/gloss will vary upon the brand, type, oils in the skin, the amount of use of your lips (kissing, drinking, eating, talking, licking of lips, etc.)  Q-tips are very convenient to carry around in your purse and great for cleaning up minor imperfections that may happen in your makeup during the day/night.

FALSE STRIP EYELASHES

I've never had false lashes before, I don't know if I want them and how do they feel?

There is no pressure to wear false lashes.  Once your makeup is done you may try on different sizes and styles of lashes and choose the one that best fits your desired look.  Most women want the lashes after trying them on due to adding a little more effect to the look while still appearing very natural or even more bold if desired.  False lashes may feel awkward at first.  Give them about fifteen minutes to adjust them and you will forget they are there.  The lashes may be easily removed at any time by yourself if you decide they are not for you.

How long will the false strip lashes last and how do I remove them?

Strip lashes are meant to stay put for a day.  As long as you are not rubbing your eyes, you should not have to worry about your lashes not staying put.   Some people will fall asleep with the lashes on and wear them the next day (if they stay on through the night) or reapply them up to a few times.  The lashes have the best and freshest appearance on the first day.   The lashes may be carefully pulled off  inner corner to outer corner or taken off with your daily cleansers/eye makeup remover.

What if I do not like the strip lashes after they are applied?

Simply pull off the false lash inner corner to outer corner to avoid disrupting your makeup application or take off with your daily cleansers/eye makeup remover.

ALLERGIES & SENSITIVITIES

I have allergies and/or sensitive skin, do you use hypoallergenic makeup or have any suggestions for makeup?

Temptu airbrush makeup used for foundation, contour, highlighting and blush is hypoallergenic, although the traditional makeup used may not be, as these are random brand names. If concerned with allergies of the traditional makeup and would still like a makeup application you may bring your own makeup you are comfortable using and I may apply that as well as the airbrush makeup.

TRIAL

Is a trial necessary?

A trial is optional but to be clear, a trial is the best way to avoid contraindications for your day of application.

The trial is for...so you can get the look you want, with the makeup you want and test the wear out all day and night.  If there are any concerns you have after the trial, we will address them.

TIME SCHEDULING

How long does the trial take?

Typically the trial takes about 1-2 hours. I book for 2 hours just to be safe. You may want to get creative!

How long does the application take on the day of the event?

Typically it takes 30 minutes per application. The trial will help keep it closer to 30 minutes as this will be our second time doing it.

LOCATION & TRAVEL

Do you offer airbrush services at a salon or at our location of choice?

Assuming you are in the nearby Lansing area, I will come to your location. There is an additional travel fee to travel to your location. You always have the option to come to my home makeup studio if you find that to be more convenient for you.

I am interested in booking with you for my wedding but it doesn't seem that where I'm getting married is a venue that you would be able to conduct the makeup application or do hair at. Do you have a solution?

I suggest for hair and makeup is finding another location to get ready at. Some brides get a hotel room to stay in with their bridesmaids, others get ready at the church or location of their wedding and some get ready at their home, a friend's or parent's home.  My home studio is available to accommodate small bridal parties for makeup only.

CANCELLATION POLICY

What if I need to cancel my appointment? Is there a fee?

Non-Refundable Deposit: Sometimes life happens and you need to cancel. I completely understand that and that's not a problem. However, the non-refundable deposit is exactly that, non-refundable.

Delays: Delays by the bridal party that prevent me from completing the makeup applications of the entire party within the set time frame will constitute a non-refundable deposit. I work very hard to accommodate every lady, even with delays, without being late for my next scheduled client (if any).

Additional Service Fees: Any additional service fees listed under the "Additional Service Fees" section will be refunded upon cancellation.

Cancelations and Delays due to Professional: If for any reason I have to cancel an application due to my delay or by unforeseen circumstances, I will refund your money.

Please understand due to the nature of the wedding season that when I book an event, and by the actual day of the event, I will have already turned at least one potential client away requesting the same time slot. If you later cancel your appointment turning away that client costs my company a substantial amount of money. Thank you for your understanding.
